The Iconic Mt Fuji

Mt Fuji is undoubtedly Japan’s most famous view. Surrounded by five beautiful lakes, Yamanakako, Kawaguchiko, Saiko, Shojiko and Motosuko, it offers a variety of incredible viewpoints from which to photograph the mighty volcano.

We can also photograph it from above if we are lucky enough to get some morning mist.

Meteo Iwa (Married Rocks)

Meteo Iwa, (Married Rocks) is yet another interesting subject to photograph. According to the Shinto religion, the rocks represent the union of the creator Kami, Izanagi and Izanami and therefore celebrate the union in marriage of man and woman.

The rope is replaced three times a year and it has a ceremony on each occasion.

Sakura (Cherry Blossom)

Japan is renowned for its Sakura (Cherry Blossom season) which takes place between the end of April and the middle of May.

Spectacular displays of the Sakura flower ranges from white to dark pink. The Sakura is the biggest attraction in Japan from late April to mid-May.

Torii Gates

Our photo tour will include the Fushimi Inari Shrine (which incorporates 1000 red torii gates).

A Torii Gate is a traditional Japanese gate that lies at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine. It symbolises the transition from the mundane to the sacred.

Shirahige Shrine

Shirahige Shrine is a Shinto shrine that is famous for its picturesque torii gate, which stands in the water of Lake Biwa. It makes a great subject to photograph at sunrise.

It was erected around 2,000 years ago during the time of Emperor Suinin’s reign (the 11th emperor of Japan) and as the oldest this is also the head shrine of around 300 Shirahige shrines across Japan.
