The Isle of Skye in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland offers the most dramatic scenery to be found anywhere in the UK. It is the UK’s fourth largest island behind mainland Britain, Ireland and Harris and Lewis.
Its most famous and distinctive feature is without doubt the majestic 160ft-tall Old Man of Storr, standing tall and proud against the rugged Skye backdrop.
These crystal-clear, turquoise pools nestled in the Glen Brittle forest offer fantastic opportunities for capturing long exposure shots of cascading waterfalls and serene landscapes.
The dramatic rock formations, steep cliffs, and sweeping vistas of the Quiraing are a must-see too.
The Quiraing was formed by an ancient landslip that left behind striking rock formations with such names as The Table, The Prison, and The Needle.
Situated on a dramatic cliff edge at the western edge of the island, Neist Point Lighthouse offers a stunning scene of the lighthouse, sea and surrounding cliffs.
This is a superb location for capturing spectacular sunsets and blue hour photos.
